Took my new old camera to Africa

I feel like I am the queen of click bait right now because I didn't even go to Africa, I am SO sorry. There is this place near me that reminds me a lot of Africa, even though not any of us has been to Africa. I mean, photoshop a giraffe on the background and there you go. So believable. On the other hand I did get a 'new' camera, a Olympus OM10. Yes, an analog camera. I kind of ruined my first film (sadly), but the second one makes it more than alright and so let me show you why.

A lil' shiny beetle

Recently I did a great discovery called 'gouache'. It sounds really fancy, but it's the paint most of us children used to paint with. It's no acrylic but no watercolour as well, but I'd say it's a baby of those two. It's a bit tricky at first, but now that I've got the hang of it I can't stop. And to make it even better, I found gold and silver paints that I am basically obsessed with. So today I painted this lil' shiny cool guy.

A painting for my boyfriend

From drawing as tiny as possible to a painting that barely fit into my room. Joke, it's not that massive-  but for me it kind of felt like it. Oil painting is still very new to me, secretly I've got no clue of what I am doing. And painting this big with the urge to get it as perfect as possible was kind of a challenge I have to admit. But, I did it! 

Oooooh honey..

For some reason rain really calms me down and autumn makes me the most happy person alive- while for loads of people it is the other way around, not for me though! The whole summer I've barely made any art work which is such a shame. But now autumn's visiting again, my whole drawing mood decided to come with it, yay! 

A heart like yours

Alright, hi. My name is Kim and I fell in love with oil painting. I turned two of my favourite drawings into paintings- and even though these two were like my first proper attempt using oils, I'm so happy with how they turned out. I even made a youtube video about the whole progress. Woah!

About a year ago I opened my own little art store on Etsy selling prints of my art work. I haven't been maintaining it as I should be- such a shame, I know.. But recently I added loads of new stuff and to celebrate I added a coupon giving you free shipping! 

Lots of dots and goodbye artist's block

Lately everything I've been creating doesn't feel right to me. No matter what I draw, paint, write and basically everything creatively related, doesn't feel good enough. Overall, the definition of this (super-duper dumb) thing is called 'artist's block'- which has been going on for way too long. But after months I created something that feels rather good than bad, and I feel like showing it while taling a bit over about the thing 'artist's block'.

Hi, I went to New York

When you get an email basically saying that school is planning a trip to New York and they ask if you'd like to go, what do you expect me to say..? And just like that, I went. Staying in an apartment in Brooklyn, trying to visit as lot as museums possible, times squares.. Do I need to say more?

You know, I only posts things on here when I feel like it and/or did something I find interesting enough to share. So in that case, a few weeks back Chantal announced that she is starting this project (I'll tell you more about it a second) and she was searching for girls to take pictures of.

I finished a whole sketchbook

People who finish around 5 sketchbooks in a year, how? I remember buying this sketchbook around two years ago with in mind I would actually finish it for once. And I did! So I thought it would be fun to film a little video showing what's in my sketchbook.

About Venice and a tattoo

Even though the picture above doesn't really look like I am still alive, I am. But, in the time it didn't seem like I was alive I went to Venice and I got a tattoo, as you can see in the picture above. Yay! Even though it's a few months later, it's never too late to share. Right?

Bye, summer

A few days ago I got my film developed, and as soon I saw the pictures, I realised that the summer is official over. Picknicks, beaches, and blue skies. As autumn as my favourite season, I don't really mind the fact summer is over now. But if you do, I am sorry for letting these pictures make you miss summer even more. 

A bit of colour pencil

Colour pencil is a medium I really want to get along more than I do now. The only way of doing that, is doing it. Makes sense, huh? So I decided to do a using-every-colour-pencil-I-own kind of sketch.

Then I've got some great news for you, I guess. Because I opened an art shop! Something I've been wanting to do for literally ages, but for some reason it always kind of scared me somehow. A big thank you to my impulsive thoughts I get sometimes, because they made me do it.

An orange and a pretty place

Do you ever have these moments when you just feel extremely happy for no reason, by doing the most simple things? That sentence pretty much describes my weekend. I drew an orange (how adventurous), kind of got lost but then found the most beautiful place ever. Where we took over 300  pictures, not even joking.

Alright, this blog post has nothing to do with a rhino. If you like rhinos and you were hoping for that- I am sorry. But while finishing this drawing I had some really worth knowing and hopefully helpful thoughts, in response of reading the book 'It's not about how good you are, it's about how good you want to be'.
